Process Execution

Solumina radically improves the efficiency of the shop. Technicians will spend more time doing the job they are trained to do, and less time looking for documents or waiting for repair instructions. Learning curves and the potential for mistakes are greatly reduced with enhanced work instructions.

Managers make quicker decisions and assignments using the graphical view of the work schedule, resources and constraints. As-built history is instantly available for reports and analysis.

 Complete and Current Job Information

All the information required to do the job is “kitted” for the technician including work instructions, illustrations, drawings and specifications. The technician always views the correct and latest versions of documents. A technician is always alerted to conditions holding up a task.

All inspection and repair tasks are linked to panels, when applicable, to prevent premature closing of a panel and improve task grouping.

Enhanced Work Instructions

Solumina provides the technician with easy to follow instructions that reduce the learning curve and errors. Instructions for simpler jobs can be text descriptions complemented with links to illustrations and bookmarked drawings; instructions for more difficult jobs can be intricate animated slide shows that incorporate marked-up drawings, 3D models or videos, and prompt the user for data collection when it is required.

Paperwork Reduction

Solumina eliminates the need for most of the paper documents used on the shop floor, including manuals, books of standard procedures, work orders, task cards, printed work instructions, and drawings. A paper-lite phase is supported to help transition to a paperless process.

Straightforward Operation

Solumina optimizes the user interface for different types of jobs and work centers. The user interface is configured to display only what is required for the current job, and provide speed buttons for most-used commands. From the main screen, the user can select tabs for more detail information about the job.

Online Data Collection

Solumina lets you know what data is outstanding in order to complete the job. Solumina provides easy data entry and supports barcode readers. A data collection form easier than a spreadsheet displays for multiple data entry. The technician is alerted instantly when recorded measurements are outside specified control limits.

Buyoff Signatures

Technicians and inspectors “stamp” work completion and approvals online. These buyoff stamps are stored as part of the device/unit history. Inspectors can point out an oversight or initiate discrepancy reports directly from a buyoff point in the work order. Solumina is fully compliant with FAA, FDA, DoD, and DoE regulations on electronic signatures.

Certification Verification

Solumina ensures the technician has the required certifications for the job. The technician is also warned about certifications that are approaching expiration.

Discrepancies and Nonroutine Work

Nonroutine tasks or operations can be initiated by an inspector or technician from an inspection or a stand-alone discrepancy report. The technician documents the findings and routes the discrepancy (a.k.a. squawk) to the lead person responsible for prescribing operations to remedy the discrepancy. The lead can select pre-approved repair operations or can route the problem to a planner or Designated Engineering Representative.

Liens

Liens act as virtual red tags identifying open discrepancies, rework or incomplete work. Special authorizations can be given to specific units allowing work to proceed up to a certain point with these lien conditions. Visibility of liens is never lost throughout the process, even when they are inherited from installed subassemblies.

Device/Unit History Record

Solumina stores history on each unit, including work instructions, data collection, buyoff signatures, discrepancies, and repairs. Solumina keeps track of materials, components and subassemblies used for each unit, making it easy to determine where a suspect component or material was used.

Solumina maintains both removal and installation records. History for a subassembly and its components moves with that subassembly when it is removed.

Supervisory Tools

Management of a shop is enhanced with realtime visibility of schedules, resources and constraints. The Solumina graphical dispatch brings all this information together for your supervisors using Gantt charts, histograms, alerts, and tabbed pages with additional information about each job. Your supervisors knows which jobs are ready and which jobs are held up, and can easily assign and reassign jobs to accommodate unplanned absences or machine downtime.

Each task can be assigned to one or more “skill group”

  • Gantt charts show priorities, the master schedule, the revised schedule and actual dates. Authorized production personnel can make adjustments to the schedule to accommodate constraints.

  • Histograms graphically display the assigned load for each employee or team. Jobs can be assigned by dragging them from the Gantt chart to the employee or team on the histogram.
