Boeing Deploys iBASEt MES at its Largest Defense Electronics Manufacturing Facility

Lake Forest, Calif., July 2, 1999 - The Boeing Company has expanded use of iBASEt's paperless manufacturing execution systems (pMES) into their largest electronics facility in El Paso, Texas. Successful deployment of Solumina in the Aircraft & Missiles, Space & Communications divisions galvanized the decision to use this advanced technology at this Strategic Manufacturing Center. El Paso's production includes a variety of electronic products and components for several Boeing business units.

"The El Paso Boeing unit has a labor pool known for its efficient, high-rate production capabilities," said Phil Davis, iBASEt COO and President. "They have focused on agile and lean manufacturing practices, and as a result, are capable of responding to a wide range of program needs for DoD and NASA. Solumina will further streamline several of this unit's operations. For example, because the software facilitates lean manufacturing, it will promote quicker propagation of design changes as well as further reduction of non-value added processes on the shop floor related to disseminating and capturing data."

iBASEt will supply 1,000 additional shop floor automation seats, manufacturing systems development services including consulting, training, and maintenance; as well as assist with Boeing's master plan for integrating their enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. El Paso will be connected to the Boeing Anaheim, California location in an effort to assist these divisions in working together more closely.

iBASEt, founded in 1986 as TSI, is a leading provider of high-tech software solutions and services. iBASEt has pioneered the first image-based work instruction system in the complex assembly, aerospace and defense, and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) markets today. By making the shop floor paperless, users report that iBASEt's pMES solution has significantly improved productivity, increased throughput, and provided cost savings in the millions of dollars per year.
