Lake Forest, Calif., January 12, 1998 – iBASEt (Information Based Technology™) a leading provider of paperless manufacturing execution systems (pMES), signed a contract with Alliant Techsystems for its Shopfloor 2000 software, integration and training services to build expendable launch vehicle components at Alliant's Iuka, Mississippi plant.
Phil Davis, President and COO of iBASEt, said about the sale, "Some of the mandates Alliant's management needs to meet for this program are increased quality, reduced cycle times and improved traceability. Shopfloor 2000 has been providing these kinds of benefits to customers like The Boeing Company since 1994 – benefits that have resulted in cost savings of over $125 million. iBASEt pioneered paperless, image-based work instruction delivery systems that automate production on the shop floor. As indicated by our rapid growth in the past 4 years, shop floor personnel are more often demanding the kind of functionality provided by our solutions."
Paul J. Gutierrez, Plant Manager for Alliant Techsystems, commented about their software choice, "Shopfloor 2000 is the only MES solution we found that is fully integrated with quality assurance and paperless technology. iBASEt is also the only company that has successfully implemented their system in a large-scale, aerospace environment, namely Boeing. We are opening a new plant in Iuka, Mississippi, and we wanted leading-edge technology in all of our installed software. We also need to be live by mid-January 1999, and we have no doubt that iBASEt's team will be able to meet all these requirements."
Alliant Techsystems is a $1.1 B aerospace and defense company with approximately 6,300 employees headquartered in Hopkins, MN. The company's business groups are conventional munitions, space and strategic systems, and defense systems.
iBASEt, founded in 1986, is a leading provider of high-tech software solutions and services. iBASEt has pioneered the first image-based work instruction system in the complex assembly, aerospace and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) markets today. By making the shop floor paperless, users report that Shopfloor 2000 has significantly improved productivity, increased throughput, and provided cost savings in the millions of dollars per year.
