Lake Forest, Calif. – January 18, 2001. iBASEt, a leading provider of paperless Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) solutions for complex manufacturing, announces the release of Solumina 2.5, the latest version of its COTS software solution. Solumina's capabilities have been expanded to provide greater flexibility and control to customers with special interests in complex and dynamic operation flow, enhancing the tracking and visibility of as-built history for serialized units and lots, and detail tracking and simplified disposition of defects on assemblies, subassemblies and components.
Vic Sial, the President of iBASEt, commented, "This release represents the culmination of a major effort by the Company’s design, development, and quality assurance organizations and provides significant enhancements in functionality and usability for our customers. The 2.5 release was extremely well received at the Company’s User Group meeting last week, which included personnel from a broad cross-section of our user community including Boeing, Motorola, BWX Technologies, and TRW. The continued evolution of our software solution is a testament to the vision, innovative spirit, and dedication of the talented Solumina team."
Major Enhancements. The new release provides an unprecedented degree of flexibility and control in the manufacturing process by offering parallel and alternate work instruction paths with built-in decision points. An Operation Flow Diagram tool allows manufacturing planners to visually lay out each work operation and decision point in the manufacturing process. During execution of the work order, shop floor users can decide the appropriate option or path based on dynamic operating conditions such as work center capacity, test results, or parts availability.
The new release also provides the ability to track units and corresponding data individually within an order, thereby creating an as-built history for each unit. Users can build multiple serialized units in a single work order, with each unit moving either independently or in batches. Unit tracking extends to the QA functions, allowing the specification of a single discrepancy for multiple serialized units. Additionally, defects can be identified against component parts installed on assemblies, and disposition instructions can be created that address the removal and replacement of those problem components.
In addition, several new configuration features facilitate future upgradability of site specific customizations. The release also leverages various new Oracle 8i features and performance enhancements.
