Lake Forest, Calif. – July 11, 2001. iBASEt, a leading provider of paperless Manufacturing Process Management (MPM) solutions for complex manufacturers, announced the release of Solumina 2.6, the latest version of its COTS software solution. Solumina's capabilities have been expanded to provide greater ease of use for highly automated, electronic and fabrication environments by allowing many functions to be performed using bar-code scanning. Solumina’s defect analysis capabilities and tools have also been enhanced to assist in the identification of process errors and product defects in support of six sigma quality initiatives. This release is also the first to offer "Lien" functionality that allows assemblies with constraints to proceed with manufacturing to specified "gate-points" for further analysis or disposition.

Major Enhancements. This release allows extensive use of bar-code inputs to control various facets of the MES process such as log-on, work instructions access, sign-off and parts data collection. Release 2.6 also allows work orders that ordinarily would be locked and on-hold, due to discrepancies or other anomalies, to proceed in the value-adding process to specified gate operations or staging points where the constraint or non-compliance can be better addressed. Additionally, Solumina now provides extensive defect normalization capabilities to help quality improvement personnel to better understand where process variability and errors are most prevalent, thus indicating where the greatest improvement effort is required. Release 2.6 is also our first release that provides process planners with the choice of displaying images in the work instructions as either icons, thumbnails, or full-sized images, thus eliminating the need to click on the link to see the image.
