Lake Forest, Calif., February 24, 1999 – iBASEt a leading supplier of paperless manufacturing execution systems (pMES) will reveal increased capabilities within its Solumina software (formerly known as Shopfloor 2000) at the National Manufacturing Week convention, Booth #6709, to be held in Chicago, IL March 15-18. The client/server software package is designed to address the enterprise-wide requirements of manufacturing's production, operations and maintenance environments.
Phil Davis, iBASEt's President and COO, commented, "Interest in the kind of shop floor automation we provide has increased significantly in both manufacturing and maintenance, repair overhaul (MRO) industries. As a result, we've added 18 new sales representatives in the last 12 months just to keep up with demand. Recent research indicates that 40% of aerospace production personnel's time is spent looking for, deciphering or retrieving data. By employing iBASEt's electronic delivery and paperless manufacturing software, our customers have significantly reduced if not eliminated this wasted time.
"At National Manufacturing Week we'll demonstrate Solumina with the kind of functionality both large and mid-market organizations will need to meet future factory demands. We've completed a successful implementation at Alliant Techsystems in three months, so we're confident about our commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) product. And, with more companies like Motorola coming aboard, we've proven that not only do we serve production on the shop floor, but our solution also directly benefits operations in other areas of the enterprise such as quality. Our new name is a reflection of this expanding marketshare. Solumina provides solutions that illuminate a manufacturer's operations."
Solumina is a complete manufacturing software suite developed for complex organizations including aerospace and defense, industrial equipment, electronics and MRO. Functionality includes process planning, work instructions delivery, quality assurance, a CAD viewer, and MRO. These powerful modules eliminate one of manufacturing's most time-consuming and costly limitations on the shop floor – paper. Solumina provides a paperless environment for creating, delivering, revising and tracking work orders, multimedia instructions, work specifications and quality assurance and has been referred to as the "next industrial revolution."
iBASEt (formerly TSI), founded in 1986, is a leading provider of high-tech software solutions and services. iBASEt has pioneered the first image-based work instruction system in the discrete, complex assembly and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) markets today. By making the shop floor paperless, users report that iBASEt's pMES solution has significantly improved productivity, increased throughput, and provided cost savings in the millions of dollars per year.
