Lake Forest, Calif., June 1, 1998 – The SF2K division of Telecom Solutions, Inc. (TSI), a leading provider of integrated Manufacturing Execution System (MES) technology, today announced a multi-year agreement with the Boeing company of Seattle, Washington. This agreement facilitates the acquisition of SF2K's Shopfloor 2000 software solution for Boeing's diverse manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance "factory floor" operations.
This corporate purchase agreement between Boeing and SF2K includes software licenses, legacy systems integration, and long-term support. Shopfloor 2000 was originally utilized in the C-17 program in Long Beach, California. Boeing observed the benefits derived from the implementation of Shopfloor 2000 and its widespread user acceptance during the merger talks with McDonnell Douglas, and chose to enter into a corporate agreement with SF2K for certain manufacturing sites in California and Washington State.
"This agreement gives the Shopfloor 2000 team at SF2K access to new users throughout the Boeing manufacturing operations and strengthens our leadership position in the emerging MES market," said Amrik Poonian, TSI Chairman, President and CEO. "Production workers use our system to view work instructions, CAD drawings, and photographs; check procedure status; log work time and other data. The system also captures expert knowledge about complex production techniques, and embeds this knowledge in Shopfloor 2000's multimedia windows, to provide just-in-time retraining on the shop floor," concluded Mr. Poonian.
TSI is a total solution provider in the telecommunications and computer systems integration industries, and its SF2K Division is a pioneer in the emerging field of image-based work instructions.
