Installation Training Courses

Product Training - Installation, Configuration, Implementation

Course offerings include comprehensive training for all personnel. Training is typically conducted at iBASEt's training facility in Foothill Ranch, California. The minimum class size is 6; the maximum size is 12. If the number of students exceeds 12, another instructor will be required at an additional fee. We request that students have a similar knowledge base.

Technical Training

Reporting Tool - Basic – T0410

This hands-on lab course presents an overview of the Solumina® Report Designer, including a discussion of the toolbars, buttons, editing windows and layout. Students create a simple banded report using the report wizard, make minor changes to the wizard layout and presentation. The course includes configuring a report to be invoked from a dispatch ellipsis command within Solumina®.

Prerequisite: PL/SQL knowledge, Solumina End User Classes

Reporting Tool - Advanced & Graphical Reports – T0420

This hands-on lab course builds on the Introduction course. Students will create a traveller reports with bar codes without using the report wizard. The course includes: setting up and passing test parameters; adding and linking the bands; creating global pages, locking pages,

adding images/graphs, such as pie/bar charts to reports, chaining and embedding reports. Students will create several reports and be expected to write simple SQL statements

Enterprise Application Deployment – T0510

This lecture class discusses installing and managing Solumina over multiple facilities, worldwide; deployment and performance options; and tips and techniques.

Prerequisite: Thorough understanding of site deployment practices for servers and networks; knowledge of external applications to be interfaced to Solumina; Solumina End User class

Application Installation and Upgrades – T0520

This hands-on class covers client and database installation, including: installing the client, Web-Express and Report servers; installing the database; installing the XML Connector and Standard Interfaces; applying upgrade programs and scrips; determining hardware and permission requirements; and establishing security options.

Prerequisite: Thorough understanding of site software installation practices; experience with Perl scrips and database backup, import and export functions; experience maintaining Unix and/or Windows Application Servers and Database Servers; Solumina End User class

Basic Configuration – T0610

This hands-on lab course begins with an overview of the Configuration Manager tool. Students will then configure the client, linking the database to the application, and creating a start-up “.INI” file.

The course focus is an introduction to application components; common interface elements; managing and editing configuration and administrative tasks; defining roles and privileges; setting up dispatch lists to customize data sorting, and setting up authoring and approval workflows; adding a tabular report to a dispatch; configuring dispatch tabs; SQL and UDV libraries; introduction to User Defined Views (UDVs); building, testing and installing a UDV in the application. Throughout the course diagnostic tools are discussed and tips and techniques given.

Prerequisite: SQL knowledge, understanding of client/server configuration, Solumina End User Classes

Intermediate Configuration – T0620

This hands-on lab expands on the Basic Configuration class, and specifically covers, in-depth, INI Lib and UDV functionality. This includes: modifying and application and instruction presentation, plan and order header information; adding shortcut command buttons to instructions; configuring a touch screen interface; changing global parameters through the Common section; creating a new dispatch list group and configuring a bar code. Students will be given a sample business requirement and then step through the design and implementation of that requirement. Additional projects include: modifying UDV attributes, creating a data entry wizard. UDVs for a PDA are discussed. Throughout the course tips and techniques given.

Advanced Configuration – T0630

This combined lecture and hands-on lab expands on the Basic and Intermediate Configuration classes. Students will use a client API to invoke an external application; configure an E-mail alert; configure a speedbar; modify event stubs; use extension tables and extend procedures, and use the SF XML tool to configure advance queues. Discussion includes: Solumina internals, the schema, methodology to load procedures and the upgrade map.

Prerequisite: Thorough PL/SQL knowledge, Oracle knowledge, understanding of client/server configuration, Solumina End User Classes, Basic and Intermediate Configuration courses

Advanced XML Integration – T0640

This class expands on the Advanced Configuration course and covers extending Standard XML interfaces and developing new XML messages. Topics include: Discussing OAGIS XML structures; mapping fields to XML; using XSLT and xPath for data transformation definition and handling errors.

Prerequisite: Advanced Configuration Course T06030 and advanced SQL and Pl/ SQL experience. Prior experience with XSLT and XPath recommended

Database Tuning and Troubleshooting – T0650

This combined lecture and hands on course provides tools, tips and techniques to maximize database performance. Topics include: evaluating SQL performance; using diagnostic and database statistical tools; enhancing indexes; optimizing database parameters; allocation and partitioning options; discussing considerations for Windows, Unix and AIX platforms.

Prerequisite: Experienced DBA with strong Oracle experience. Solumina End User class
